Previous to this point all squeezes have foucused upon the overrated "card" part of the game of bridge forcing the victims to throw winners or guards. These squeezes simply fail to take account of the various other things you can squeeze such as the opponents dignity or their walets. All this is possible thanks to the juniors best friend, the 7 of diamonds. In this way you can play a "Beer Squeeze" (otherwise known as a draw play). The components of a beer squeeze are simple you play a card which gives the opponent a choice. To lose one of his trick or allow you to win the final trick with the 7 of dimamonds thus squeezing his wallet as he buys you a pint. In this way the Beer Squeeze differs form any other squeeze as it doesnt require you to win an extra trick only to give your opponent the choice. The problem occurs however when i realise that it is dificult to think up good examples of this an so far I have only one which can be seen below .................................................- .................................................A .................................................8742 .................................................A ...........................- ...........................- ...........................AK65 ...........................KQ .................................................A .................................................- .................................................3 .................................................xxxx(not winners)
In this case say declarer needs 3 tricks to make his contract. it is plain to see that each side has 3 tricks. However cashing the ace of spades Beer Squeezes West. He is forced to part with a small dimaond or a winner. If he throws a winner South will make 4 tricks if he throws a small dimaond south can play a dimaond to secure the last trick with the 7 of dimaonds. As when a small dimaond is played West must raise with his Ace or King to stop south gaining a trick he will then play a club. North then plays the 8 of dimaonds West must take this trick or North will cash his Heart Ace for another trick. the fimal trick will be won with the 7 of dimaonds a well done beer squeeze.
As i said however i can only come up with this one example so i am appealing to you to help me and see if you can come up with some other combinations it would be appreaciated. Points to remember 1; There can only ever be 5 diamonds smaller than the 7 2; The opponent MUST be given a choice, there must be no way of winning the Beer if the oponents dont wsh you to.
Good luck, its quite hard.

I suppose its not that hard really, it all depends upon your perspective as i now belive i have found the "Ethanol Squeeze" ie. the purest form of the Beer Squeeze. It looks a bit like this ...............................A ...............................- ...............................87 ...............................- - A A2 -
Small diamond led As it is plain to see West must give up a trick or a beer, a beer squeeze.

I can honestly say. You have the most accurate signature of all of us.
I claimed a beer line yesterday! Whoo
I then next board attempted a beer line and then went off Was an awful effort position
so we have the five tricks needed 4spades and a boss Kh and a boss D but as we can see the diamond cant be the last trick we need to lose one first. SO i figured that i can play a low heart from dummy south can get in and then the qx of clubs is a stop since only the king is out
South duly got in with the JH and then ... cashed the Kc D'oH -1 But its okay other table were 2off in 4NT
