See if you can do better that people that made the plays (who will remain anonymous):

1) Your lead to 3N after auction: 1N-3N

9x
Q987
QJ2
AQ7x

2) Another lead, after auction: 1S-1N-2D-2N-3N, no intervention.

Qxx
QJ8xx
10x
A7x

3) Defensive problem, auction 2N-3H-3S-3N.

Qxx
76xxx
x
Q9xx

You lead a small club to your partners K and declarers A, who now leads the A, then the J of diamonds - plan your discards (reverse attitude throughout if it makes a difference). Dummy is:

J108xx
9
Q97xx
xx

4) A play problem after a quickly bid 6S, left hand opponent pauses to ask some questions then protractedly leads. How do you play it?

Q98xx
AKQ10x
void
AQx

A10x
Jxx
KQ98
Kxx

5) Just for fun the last one, you pick up:

AKJ
AK
AKQx
AQJx

After you have spent a good five minutes counting and recounting you points (I wont tell you to spoil the enjoyment of doing it yourself), plan your bidding?

This is open to u20s and u25s by the way.

The winner I will buy a pint the next time I see them. The older ones can have a chocolate bar.

Did I get that the wrong way round?

Nah, thats ok.

Just give them a post on the site. You will be the only one anyway.

1) I hate opening lead problems, no matter what you do your wrong and then your opponents tell you that they would have done the right thing and then I try very hard to not tell them how much I hate them.
We can reasonable place partner with 0-6 points. And with these kind of auctions we can give slight preference to a major suit lead. I am farily sure that only hearts and clubs are the reasonable choices. If we are looking for partner to turn up with something useful then it would be better for him to have it in hearts as then there is the possibility to gain more tricks in clubs on subsequent leads through. So I am saying a heart, watch me be wrong.

2) Another lead problem...give me a break please. Anyway we have an entry and 5 hearts...guess Ill be leading one of them then. The Qxx of spades makes me wince as this usually leads to 5 spade tricks for the opponents. Furthermore the bidding suggests a 5242 shape. The standard lead is a small heart and im fairly sure this is right. However since you are asking...if dummy turns up with KT in dummy id be pissed i didnt lead the queen when partner turns up with A9x and they can take 8 tricks after that. However the possibility of partner having a doubleton heart seems higher to me possibly A9 for example . So im going to have to go for the standard lead.

3) Declarer looks pretty screwed without the king of diamonds...so he probably has it. We can place partners points at around 11-13. Declarer cant have a remaining AQ A otherwise he has made. We cannot afoard to throw a spade first time. Throwing a club looks wrong so a heart looks right. A mere 3 left to go and i think they will all be hearts, except for the last one which might be a spade. Partner has to have aces I think and taking club tricks looks the best way to set the contract.
4) Would be kinda useful to know what he protractedly leads. Also (since a diamond is the probable lead) i would like to know the bidding, does he have a hint that there is a void in dummy.
5) If i could plan this out it would go
Open 2c, LHO overcalls anything Vun vs not....I laugh my ass off. The end.

In reality I would open 2c and would either sign off in 3nt if my partner showed a double negative, less than a king, or keep on bidding till i can ask about his kings if he has one...punt the grand...so much fun..

He does lead the JD in problem 4, forgot to put that slightly important thing down.

4) The lead of the jack is really weird and gives a couple of options. Either he has a singleton (depends how quick it was bid, bidding please) or was looking for a safe lead out side of trumps. If he has underled the ace he is a god. Im not buying it. No way the ace is underled with KJXX in spades. I will ruff and then play a spade to the ace and a small one to the ten then.

Reformed Englishman- 11-15-2006
That is what I did, but there is no point. This contract can not be made if the spades are 41 as he wins and plays a diamond which means you are screwed. You should therefore play a spade to the 10 and then the Q on the next time

I played a spade to the A and another spade to Q losing to K

This is simply for the reason I lost focus for a moment and was convinced that the KS was on my left.
