Hi there,

Had this hand this morning when playing with Harold

We are vul, opponents non-vul

CODE

N   E    S    W
-   3H   P    P
D   P   3S   all pass

AQ53
K5
AK5
9876

J986
T2
J732
KJT

West leads AH then AC followed by a low club which East roughs with the 7S.  East then returns a low heart, west playing the QH and dummy winning the trick with the King.  You have now lost 3 tricks and your remaining cards are as follows:

AQ53
-
AK5
98

J986
-
J732
K

How do you play the contract? (Remember you are starting from dummy)

Alright David

What sort of oppo are you up against? Good players? Young players? Students? Older bridge players?
Have they been making unrealistic actions already when playing them?

Always assume in problems like this that your opponents are strong players and know what they are doing.

As it happened, the guy who prempted was Italian (although you may have guessed that by the absence of his AKQ of trump) laugh.gif

and partner has opened pre in 1st seat, would you not raise to game?

Maybe not if Partner's Pre-empts can be that bad! ohmy.gif

Go on, someone have a stab at answering it!
