Your hand is as follows 1st in hand Vunrable against not
Axxx
Kx
Qx
AKQJT
You open the bidding 1C and your LH jumps to 4H, this ends the bidding
Your partner leads the 8c, and dummy comes down

JT9x
xx
AT9xx
xx

You win the T and play another club, your partner folows with the 9c, both dummy and declarer follow small both times, what is your next play?

AKQ,A = 13 points...can i still have a kH?

Let me be clear, I have no correct answer to this just though some opinions would be good, respect for that play Myles tis rather cunning. However as you only have 13pts ur partner must have some and may well have dbl'd with the King of hearts and some more of your points, im not saying he would have but it might be possible for declarer to work it out. Still a very cunning play, nice.

There is a defence which would have beaten the contract as it was at the table but its very hard to work out but not impossible i feel.

If you play declarer to be 2-7-2-2 then a small diamond from queen doubleton will set the contract assuming partner has the minimum required to set the contract, the queen of spades. This defence is actually quite safe the only time i see it losing is when partner has 3 diamonds to the Jack, other than that it cant cost a trick.

Pick up line that must be tried:

myles; Whats the state in America where all the potatoes come form?
girl; Idaho
myles; and ill be your pimp

Holla that chat-up line but er, no

yeah 2-7-2-2

what kind of ejit does that missing Kh??
That is just muppet bididng, surely 3H with such poor dstb 2-2-2

surely 8card suit, p has a 3rd(4th) club and => with heart finesse working
8 hearts, club ruff, A diamond

ten , easy
so u have to make him(or her but im with Zia on this one... wink.gif ) mis guess the hearts.

A second not so cunning plan, but much more obvious to declarer is to lead xH. BUT this has the disadvantage that its a much easier cunning plan to make and so declarer is aware to it, I prefer to let the points be shown and scare him off. He knows I have a shed in clubs and with As can i really have had KH and only bid once...

he knows u arent a stormer of an unbalanced hand since u either can rebid 5C with all those points, 4S with spades and clubs or 4N with the minors. This is why Nt range is needed to eb STR to b perfect. Bcoz if strong then u only have Kh if 18/19 bal. Compared to p having stiff KH loads more times with your other hands. I'm right...i can feel it

DOWN FRAZER ph34r.gif

Another point with your system how many clubs he shown, e.g leads from xxx, xxxx?

MUD me hopes bcoz if its 4 then the club give him a chance to make so I'm changing to exiting a diamond after AS. But will check 2moro when more awake, up at 6:20 after 2:30am. Lots of diss work

Leads are not my own, just what was led at the table. i know its a bit odd but thats what happened so i felt compelled to put it in. Your analysis seems pretty good though at the table the underlead of the Q of diamonds was the way to beat it and it just seemed so pretty.

I suppose the way to answer this problem is to give you this hand

Axxx
xx
Qx
AKQJT

and then tell you your partner has the singleton king of hearts and ask how you would defend. Since declarer knows you are not trying to help them cashing the ace of spades is suspicious as it reveals your partner as probably having the KH, thus declarer may play you to have it. So on this hand i think cashing the Ace of spades would be right as it reveals your partner as having the KH, something declarer knows you wouldnt do, suggesting you hold it thus fooling them when they come to play the hearts.
Thus i belive that not cashing the Ace of Spades is more likely to fool people. A heart or a diamond must be led back to avoid something silly happening ( a low spade is silly ). I as declarer would view a heart played at this point with suspition but would not know what to do. Leading a diamond would look rather silly when declarer has none (2803) and would make you look really stupid. Also playing the queen looks like a similar ploy to cashing the ace of spades possibly helping declarer Thus from a fooling the human standpoint playing a may heart may put declarer down to a complete guess instead of leading his hand with the Ace of spades. Although this would only be the case if the declarer was A; deep thinker and B; Knew how good Myles was and what he was capable of.

BTW once again I have no idea what im talking about and just say this stuff cause I like lively discussion.
