At the camrose i was helping Margaret Pemble with BBO vugraph. Myself gordon and doug were discussing BBO with her. We were discussing some of the poorer aspects so she wants us to make a list of possible improvements and she'll document them and send to Fred Gitelman (the head of BBO stuff.)
So here's one or two suggestions to get us started...
1. When you are in the lobby you could be able to go directly to where a friend is by holding mouse over their name in the lobby, when their profile comes up a button could appear saying "Join me" or something similar and you could jump straight to them. This would end the tiresome trawling through screens to find a friend.
2. Many of us have experienced the problem of installing championship manager and it messing up the symbols in BBO. This can be sorted but it would be better if BBO did not rely on the person already having the right fonts but instead had its own font which is installed upon installation.
Post your suggestions here. And please keep them sensible, the state of the forum is getting embarrassingly bad.

One thing that i would really like to see on BBO is biding practice hands in which the opponents bidding can be controled by a designated kibitzer. This would stop bids being made randomly either by a computer or by one of the players and would allow the players to face hands in which the opponents action is far more likely and far more reasoned than it currently is.

I think these are all great ideas! The lack of good bidding by opposition in the partnership bidding really drives me nuts.
ps I think that I should get my name changed as I have not posted here for months now. I barely post at all now!

A great Idea...BBO give me their code (contractually or something) so I set it up and run it on my computer while Gyles and I are at durham. But that has 0% chance
A very useful feature which I dont know if it's there all ready. Switch off all the messages from the lobby. If (like us) you talk to each other there are so many messages coming in that you only have a few seconds before the wanted message needs to be scrolled to etc. It is also very easy to miss a comment/message because there are so many you don't notice it is to/about you
Andrew - I'm working on chaning your name thingy. Cant seem to find it so maybe my mod. privilligeds (SP!!) dont allow me to do everything.
Just over 2 weeks to go before Keri gets viewed on the big stage. Prepare to be amazed. Slams, games part-scores. My loevely keri does 'em all!

Having given in and read the Keri book (Bid Better much better) I am willing to admit that it seems like a very good system and is probably going to gain you quite a lot of IMPs perticularly playing a weak NT. I will however be very surprised if there is not at least one mix up (Is that 3nt to play? or keycard in my minor suit?or a maximum with 2 hearts and 3 spades?) Therefore i challange you guys to prove me wrong and i hope i will be plesantly surprised.
P.S. My favourite moment was when i read that 1nt x xx was for penalty. Sadly this dosent apply when the double is for penalty but theres no need to tell the opponents that, is there Gyles

Myles,
You can switch off the messages from the lobby. Double click on your own name and there is a tick box somewhere you can select.

Any more ideas before i send an email off to Margaret Pemble?

When I tried to Kibitz you guys in the tournament the other week, I tried to do it privately (ie logged in as invisible). When I joined your table though I became visible. It would be nice if you could watch and stay invisible.
The number one thing i would like improved though is the opponenents' interference during partnership bidding as Frazer mentioned.

Hello Scottish people
Interesting thread. One point - you can have a kibitzer choose the bidding in the BBO partnership rooms. Get the kibitzer to set up the table, click on opponent's bidding and select "controlled by host".
Keri is indeed lovely, but the book version has some flaws - most noticeably giving away info about the shape of the 1NT opener when responder has no interest in it. Klinger is now using a version that has transfer then 3NT as 4 cards in the suit, do you have 4 card support pard? The new transfer structure can be strapped onto the old Keri quite happily.
Yeh I eventually got a reply from the BBO people, i'll copy it up here later when i can be bothered, but sounds like they're looking at a few of the ideas already and the font problem may well be fixed soon.
