Howdy folks,

Am I the only person who will be flying from Edinburgh or is anyone else going to be joining me? I had a very quick look at the flights and it is a bit of a mare to get to Shannon in that Ryanair don't fly there on a Friday or back on a Monday. Gutted.

Anyways, it looks to me like flying to Dublin and getting the train from there to Limerick (as mentioned in Joan's e-mail) is the best option for those of us going from Edinburgh.

Anyone else had a look? I am trying to take as little time off work for this as possible so later flights on Friday night and fairly early ones on Monday are the best choices for me!

I wa planning on Edinburgh but having seen the websites of Ryanair, Aer Lingus and even Aer Arann I've changed my mind - seems much easier to jut get the Prestwick flights (although there's only one a day) It's cheaper than flying to Dublin anyway, and the train from Dublin to Limerick would cost us 20 quid (Student Price) - much cheaper getting the bus/train to Glasgow, bus/train to Prestwick - and probably more or less the same amount of time.

Anyone see a flaw in my argument? Me thinks Andy might have to take both his half days on Friday and both on the Monday too!

Methinks I'll take a half day on the Friday and fly from Edinburgh. I think I'll have to take the Monday off for a holiday though. From previous experience I will be in no fit state to work on the Monday. (Clearly due to tiredness and not being hungover, Scots would never get drunk at a Junior Camrose)

I will be going to Dublin as well Andy, i'll get there at 17:35. If you get there about the same time we can take a nice cross country train together possibly after a Guinness in the Gravity Bar.

p.s. The flight from Teeside to Dublin costs ~£40 i assume this is ok. The return flight leaves Dublin at 13:15.

Andy - I'm having a similar problem as you but flights are even worse from Glasgow. I have a deadline on the Friday and so can't take a half day and need to get an evening flight.

There is an Aer Fungus flight from Glasgow-> Dublin departing about 9.30pm on the Friday and one from Edinburgh-> Dublin about 8.30. Both about £60 return but miss last Limerick train. Can hire a car for about £60 at Dublin Airport and drive to Limerick. Total cost of £120 + petrol but obviously economies of scale if more than one in the car (and savings on train tickets).

It's all a bit of a hassle but I don't have many other options (other than Glasgow->London-> Shannon which costs a fortune). If you want to save half a day's holiday and the later flight + car interests you then email me.

I may need to go back on the Sunday night which causes other problems. Will cross that bridge later. .. There is a ridiculous early flight from Dublin on the Monday morning which would enable just half a day off work, but would mean no alcohol for driver and possible need to skip bed altogether on the Sunday. Don't fancy an afternoon at work after that, although I might get away with the "working at home" trick if I keep my phone on and make up the time later biggrin.gif

Anyone know the venue yet?
