There are two of u .. umm... 'precise' players here what system of defence to your club opener do u hate the most?

I know there are better places to deciede and listen to proper people talk, but they are boring ppl. Well, apart from some, like Garutzzo (u try spellling it after being up at 8am for bridge with a 4am bedtime....) plays precizczsion and said that all the defence needed to do was bid 2spades, obvious huh.

And what do most ppl do as a defence to it, is Truscott a sorta standard scottish defence?

I like bidding a suit at the one level to deny three smile.gif)
and then weak jumps of the same standard as my weak two's(so lucas inclusive usually).

I agree with Garazzo, get the bidding to the 2 level as quickly as possible, makes much harder. Me and my dad have no problems with defences that stay at the one level, if anything it just gives us an extra bid and more ways to show our hand. Mine and Andrews system is more simple, in that double shows 8+ and anything else shows less.

PS: The bidding goes 1h on your left 1s from partner, 4h on your right. You hold:

Harold and I play the following:

• Double shows at least 4 cards in both majors
• 1NT is takeout showing at least 4 cards in both minors
• 1D and 1H are natural and show 6 card suits (or very good 5 card suits)
• 1S show 0-3 spades but is non forcing
• All jump bids are natural and weak.

All subsequent bids by responder are natural and jump bids are pre-emptive

Can anyone confirm whether it's legal to use 1S in this way (or at the very least, what sticker would it be in international events)? I remember getting a couple of good scores with it playing in 1S* in 5-2 and 5-3 fits. Of course, also one howler when I bid it; they doubled; partner redoubled with a good six card suit and then I pulled it into a 2 level 4-2 fit thinking it was SOS unsure.gif

PS I would bid 5D with that hand Alex as 4NT would be RKCB and double would be penalty in my system. It's a bit of a guess but probably your best shot. What were the actual hands?

To be honest I cant remember what the hands were on that hand since it was so long since I posted it.

1!S should be ok at level 3, however I am not entirely sure, I would have to get back to you on that.

Me and Andy just play cappaletti against strong club, although some people recommend dont and other things.
