Myles,

Adult trials as follows:

QUOTE
For season 2004/05 until further notice, the conditions governing selection of SBU Open Teams will be as set out below. The Selection Committee may change these conditions to cope with circumstances which in its view are not covered. If time permits the approval of SBU Council will be sought. It is intended that such changes, together with the reasons for them, will be published on the SBU website. Details of trials dates and venues are in the calendar elsewhere in the Brochure.

CAMROSE MATCHES
The main Camrose Trial will be a pairs event contested by about 12/16 pairs playing about 110/130 boards each weekend for two weekends, finishing before Christmas. The form of scoring will be of "teams type"; the Selection Committee will notify details to players at least one week before the event. The leading six pairs will form the "squad" from which the Camrose teams will be selected with a guarantee that the first and second pairs will be invited to play at least one Camrose weekend (2 matches). However if an Open Team has been selected for a Major Championship sufficiently before the second Camrose weekend to make it feasible to select pairs from that team for that Camrose, such selection will be permitted (but will not override the invitation rights noted above).

Exemptions into this Trial will be:

(i) the leading six pairs from the previous year's Camrose Trial;
(ii) any pair who played habitually as a partnership in the team winning the previous season's Scottish Cup or the previous year's BGB Gold Cup;
(iii) any pair who played habitually, or have been selected to play, as a partnership in the SBU Open Team competing in a EBL European Championship or WBF Olympiad or WBF Bermuda Bowl taking place in the same calendar year as the Trial; and
(iv) any pair who played in a team finishing in the top three in the previous year's Open Team Trial (if any).

Preliminary Trial
The Camrose preliminary trial will be a pairs event held over one weekend, not earlier than September, with scoring conditions as above. Entries will be accepted from all partnerships which, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, are potentially of a sufficiently high standard to warrant consideration for a place in a Camrose team. Subject to the feasibility of numbers involved, the Selection Committee will incline to accepting applications in marginal cases. Entry to the main trial will be assured to (at least) the top third (rounded up) of the field, and other pairs finishing in the top two-thirds (rounded to nearer) may individually be selected for entry. If there are insufficient entries to allow (in the opinion of the Selection Committee) a sensible preliminary trial, it shall cancel the trial and select - from the entries received - pairs for entry to the main trial. In all Camrose trials the Selection Committee may at its unfettered discretion accept late entries. Late entries which would result in an odd number of pairs are unlikely to be accepted.

MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Olympiad 2004
Pairs achieving a prescribed standard in the 2004 European Championship will be invited to join the team. The selectors, having consulted such pairs who accept, will select the other pairs, if possible from pairs who might have been selected for the European Championship. Full details will be posted on the SBU website.

European Championship 2006
The 2004-05 Selection Committee will make recommendations to Council and the conditions for selection are expected to be published in the 2005-06 Brochure.

Bermuda Bowl
In the event that Scotland gains entry, the matter of team selection will be considered by Council, but it may well be the case that no trials are held and that the team which achieved qualification will be reselected.

LESSER EVENTS (generally sporadic)
The performance of pairs in recent Open Trials, the Camrose Trophy and Major Championships, as well as in important domestic events, will be taken into account by the Selection Committee. The Committee will also bear in mind the desirability of giving promising new partnerships representative experience.

I think it's safe to say Catherine will be skipping the preliminary trial stage wink.gif

It sounds like you are never going to agree dates since you all have exams at different stages and very spread out. Is there not scope to fit in a day for bridge if you have, say, a week between exams?

Saying you cannot play until whenever doesn't really help you. Why not give windows of availability and then someone pull together a nice table of dates to see which is best?

Myles- 02-26-2005
We could give windows of opportunity but only when we get the actual dates for the exams. Currently all i have is mid may - june with 2 exams in there. I got loads of time fot the bridge but other people have more exams and stuff.

12-16 good pairs. We got a 1/3 of it...

Assuming that its going to be on a weekend any time other than the 21/22 nd of May is good for me.

YaY

I got my exam dates

17/5
and
1/6

Gyles has his seven between
17/5
and
1/6

So, thats us out between these dates but after that we are 100% free until my graduation on the 29june

Our Easter Holiday is
19 Mar 2005 - 24 Apr 2005
And Gyles and I can play a couple of weekends or so in that

Other dates possible but these we are like easy for

minimightymonkey- 02-28-2005
If we are going back as early as the easter holidays then I cant make it the first week of them as I am off skiing. If there is no other option thatd be fine but I would rather have trails in June after my exams thats just a preference though +more time to fine tune system.

Worth noting im not against Catherine biting the heads off teachers in order to get us off school for any trials. I am however againat her dong so when im not there to watch biggrin.gif
